Mutressa Movies is a production and finance company with offices in Boston and Los Angeles. Mutressa was founded by Elika Portnoy in 2008 to tell inspiring, thought-provoking and entertaining stories.
ELIKA PORTNOY
Elika Portnoy started her production company, Mutressa Movies, in 2008. Since then, Mutressa has produced over fifteen features including BEASTS OF NO NATION (directed by Cary Fukunaga and starring Idris Elba and Abraham Attah), LOVE IS STRANGE (directed by Ira Sachs and starring John Lithgow, Alfred Molina, and Marisa Tomei). Her most recent films have all premiered consecutively at Sundance in U.S. Dramatic Competition section including NEVER RARELY SOMETIMES ALWAYS (directed by Eliza Hittman and starring Sidney Flanigan and Talia Ryder), JOHN AND THE HOLE (directed by Pascual Sisto and starring Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Ehle, Taissa Farmiga and Charlie Shotwell), and BLOOD (directed by Bradley Rust Gray and starring Carla Juri, Gustaf Skarsgård, Takashi Ueno, Issei Ogata), which premiered at the festivals '22 edition. Additionally, her films have premiered at Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Telluride, TIFF, Tribeca, and have received Independent Spirit Awards.
Elika is also a member of the AFI National Council and she is a member of the Board of Governors for Tufts Medical Center and the Tufts Floating Hospital for Children in Boston.
In addition to production, Elika has held acting roles including her most recent role in OBSESSION opposite Mekhi Pfeifer. In the last few years, she has acted in a Disney movie MERE ET FILLE, THE DRIFTLESS AREA (opposite Anton Yelchin) and SOFIA (opposite Christian Slater and Timothy Spall). Elika recently directed THE 6TH AMENDMENT, a short movie that premiered at the Woods Hole Film Festival, AFI Film Festival, won Best Ensemble Cast at the New York Independent Film Festival, won Best Short at the Boston International Film Festival and the Jury Prize at the Milan Film Festival.
